How to empty a crypto wallet safely
Emptying a crypto wallet sounds simple until the last few cents refuse to leave. Native coins pay fees, tokens may need gas, minimums vary, and some wallets intentionally leave a remainder. Use this checklist before retiring an old wallet.
1. Inventory every asset and network
Look beyond the main balance. A multi-chain wallet can contain native coins, tokens, stablecoins, NFTs, or balances on networks you have not opened recently. Record the asset and network for anything you intend to move.
2. Move tokens before draining the gas coin
On networks where a native coin pays transaction fees, token transfers may require that native coin. For example, an EVM token transfer generally needs the network’s native gas asset. If you send all of the gas coin first, you can strand the tokens until you add more gas later.
3. Check fees before chasing the last cent
A wallet can be functionally empty without displaying exactly zero. Some balances are smaller than the cost of moving them. Compare the estimated fee with the remaining value before making another transaction.
Understand fees vs. dust value4. Verify every destination
Confirm the destination supports the exact asset and network. Compare the address carefully, and consider a small test transaction when the amount is meaningful. Blockchain transfers are generally irreversible.
5. Decide what to do with the leftovers
If the remaining balance is movable but not worth keeping, you can consolidate it, spend it, or give it away. Spare Some Crypto provides public receiving addresses for supported assets. There is no wallet connection or seed phrase request — you send from your own wallet using the address shown.

Do not destroy recovery information merely because the visible balance is zero. Make sure you understand whether you may need the wallet later for transaction history, tax records, tokens you overlooked, refunds, staking, or other account activity. Never share a seed phrase with Spare Some Crypto or anyone claiming they need it to receive a transfer.
