Crypto withdrawal minimums explained

A crypto balance can have value and still be below an exchange or wallet provider's minimum withdrawal amount. That is one of the most common reasons tiny balances feel stuck.

Three different limits people confuse

Trading minimum

The smallest order the platform will let you buy, sell, or convert.

Withdrawal minimum

The smallest amount the platform will send to an external blockchain address.

Network economics

Even when a transfer is technically allowed, the network fee can make the transfer uneconomical.

Why minimums vary

Minimums can differ by asset, blockchain network, exchange, account type, and market conditions. Treat any number you see in an old article as potentially stale and verify the current value inside the platform before sending.

What to do when you are below the minimum

Check for a small-balance converter, see whether the asset can be sold or swapped internally, combine balances when possible, or wait until the amount or fee environment changes. If the asset becomes externally transferable and you no longer want it, you can then choose a compatible destination.
